About Me
Blessed with an innate ability to create, Dahlia Jovan has been singing and writing since the age of 11. Her uncanny vocal ability enables her to effortlessly switch from a heartfelt soulful ballad to a pop-melodious musical sound that can calm a storm and win over the hearts and minds of any diverse audience.
Dahlia was born and raised in Queens, New York, and her parents filled the house with the iconic music and voices of Sade, Anita Baker, Luther Vandross just to name a few. She identified with these artists, and they not only served as her foundation, but they inspired her to pursue music as a full-time career. She is now influenced by a wider range of artists in various genres from John Mayer to Sia to Coldplay to Drake to another famous artist raised in Queens, the one and only Nasir Jones. These diverse influences give her a unique style, which both amalgamates those influences while allowing her to remain true to her musical roots.
Her current resume includes artists/producers Mario Winans, Erick Sermon, Rockwilder, Naturi Naughton, Lion Babe and Meg Donnelly. Dahlia has also written songs for Greek (ABC Family), Melrose Place (CW), High Society (CW), Veep (HBO), Power (Starz), and LHHNY (VH1).
During her journey towards sustained success in the music world, Dahlia faced personal and industry-related challenges. There were bad business deals, deceptive individuals, along with family hardship, loss and a bout with depression. However, these fleeting low points have made her journey sweeter and that much more rewarding. When asked about the obstacles she faced she stated, “Music is something that I couldn’t let go of even if I tried. Music is the very thing that keeps me going when life gets in the way. I have had my share of good times and bad times in this industry. Both are constant reminders of where I’ve been and where I’m headed.”
As Dahlia’s journey continues, her weapons of choice will be her pen and her voice. They will undoubtedly guide her toward her ultimate destination: Triumph
